Entry Level Job Listings Report
Finding entry level jobs and internships became more difficult at the beginning of this month, according to a recent press release from CollegeRecruiter.com. In some states the number of job listings for these positions fell as much 41 percent in comparison to May.
Given the concerns of many college students and recent graduates, CollegeRecruiter.com complies a list of the five best and worst states to search for these positions at the beginning of each month. This helps to keep track of the level of difficulty those looking for their first job will likely have.
According to CollegeRecruiter.com, the number of job listings in California for internships fell 0.26 percent from last month. This means that there are now 2,269 positions available. In May the website reported that there were 2,263. Despite this decrease, there are now more entry level jobs online that there were last month. Employers increased the number of these jobs in the state by 8 percent, going from 12,185 positions to 13,194.
The number of internships in New York also fell, dropping 9 percent from 1,690 to 1,537 at the beginning of this month. Entry level jobs in the state declined by 1 percent. Last month there were 6,580 positions available for recent graduates, while the start of June showed that there are now 6,511 jobs in the state.
Last month Texas had 1,156 internships available. The entry level job search engine found that at the beginning of June, employers had increased the number of the positions by 1 percent. This means that the state now has 1,170 internships. Entry level jobs in the area also increased by 1 percent this month, going from 8,262 to 8,369 positions.
In Florida internships were up 7.6 percent at the beginning of June. This means that, while there were only 762 positions of this type available last month, there are now 820 internships in the state. During the same time, entry level positions in the state fell 2 percent. This means that there are now only 6,309 jobs listed on CollegeRecruiter.com. Last month employers advertised 6,425 on the job search engine.
