Job Search Engine Holds Nationwide Career Fair

During a time of economic struggle, many people struggle to find work. Aside from using job search engines, social networking and attending career fairs are some of the ways people try to find employment. According to recent press release from Monster.com, their Nationwide Keep American Working Tour is bringing almost 20,000 positions to job seekers in a variety of places.

Monster plans to take the nationwide career fair across the country, crossing the nation three times before the end of this year. The tour began in Boston, Massachusetts. Since it started near the end of February, Monster has been joined by approximately 946 different employers. Altogether these companies are looking to fill more than 19,600 currently available jobs.

So far the tour has conducted 33 different job fairs in 31 cities, included amongst these were: Boston, New York City, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Chicago, Minneapolis, Nashville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Orlando, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Miami, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Diego, Kansas City, Missouri, Milwaukee and Detroit. On June 4th the tour will be in Pittsburgh and on the 5th it will make it’s way to Hartford.

Aside from trying to connect job seekers and employers, the tour is also trying to educate those looking for work about how to manage their careers, according to the release. Those who decide to take part in the tour will be able to attend live theater presentations geared toward providing advice and techniques for finding work and being noticed by hiring mangers. For those who won’t be able to make it to one of Monster’s events, the company has put much of this advice on it’s website under the new career management tools.

For the events Monster has also paired up with two non-profit organizations; Dress for Success and Career Gear. Many such organizations have experienced budget cuts due to the struggling economy. Because of this, both of these non-profits currently lack the funds to have their own job search fairs and have joined Monster’s Tour for this reason. Clients of these organizations are allowed to enter event early and participate in pre-fair workshops.
