Vice President Product Development and Employer Reporting

The Vice President Product Development and Employer Reporting will be responsible for developing and managing products and services which are highly valued by small, medium and large customers. In addition to customers of all sizes, this includes all funding types and both single- and multi-site employers.

He/she will be accountable for building a high-performing organization and driving profitable revenue and market share growth through the introduction of products and features which differentiate our company and which are valued by employers. This includes adapting to the needs of employers of varying sizes, conceiving of product and feature concepts which are forward-looking and generally unavailable or underdeveloped today, identifying and working with external partners to ensure our company is continuously the product leader in our service area, and collaborating cross-functionally on concepts, build-or-buy, and operational, and similar issues. The clear articulation of both near- and mid-term strategies will be critical to this person’s success. All strategies will have to address the needs of both new business prospects as well as existing customers, with whom we want to not only maintain but, when possible, expand our business relationships.

Employer Reporting is the second substantial area of responsibility of this role. The VP Product and Employer Reporting first identifies and builds what customers want to buy, and then reports to them on how we are performing and on what all parties can do to improve performance. Our company’s marketplace has left a substantial opening for us to build more complete customer and distributor relationships through a leading ability to share information with our customers and agents/consultants. The combination of Product and Reporting into one role connects two critical areas that are entirely co-dependent, and places significant company authority and responsibility into this position.


Specifically the VP will:


• Utilize new technologies to continually bring new products to the marketplace and identify high-value potential products/potential product combinations for customers.
• Develop short and long term pricing, marketing, promotion and placement strategies that grow market share for new and existing products.
• Set revenue, market share growth and profitability targets for all business products.
• Identify ways to fully leverage the company's assets for small, medium and large groups customers
• Manage the organization by setting and maintaining high standards for individual and team performance as well as by building effective teams and cross-functional relationships.

This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Commercial Markets.

Qualifications:

A successful candidate for VP Product Development must:

• Understand the current and evolving needs of existing and potential small, medium and large customers.
• Have successful experience in developing and introducing new products, brand and product strategies, marketing strategies and customer value propositions in a highly competitive and complex environment.
• Have excellent creative instincts, a deep understanding of health plan industry.
• Be a proactive and entrepreneurial individual who will initiate action, negotiate and build new business, maintain core businesses and achieve results in a changing environment.
• Be Comfortable in pursuing and understanding cutting edge technologies in particular product space
• Be a leader capable of building and managing a motivated team.
• Be a strong communicator who can build consensus across multiple constituencies, including senior management.
